2018 GOALS

As I mentioned in yesterday's Instagram post, making new year's resolutions is not something I normally do.


In my opinion, if you want to do or change something, you don’t need to wait until the New Year to do it, you just go ahead and do it anyway. This year however, January really is the start of something new for me, I'm six months into my maternity leave so I only have a few months left, and in the time that I've had off so far I've learnt a lot about myself and the person I want to be.


With that in mind, I've decided to set myself a few goals. Nothing too rigid or unrealistic, just a few things to keep me on track and have something to work towards.


So here they are!


1 - Drink more water. I actually really love water, and I drink a lot normally, but the last few months I seem to have been drinking less, so I want to up my intake again.



2 - Drink less coffee. I suffer from terrible sleep sometimes so I have a rule of no caffeine after 12, but it would be great if I could cut it out altogether. The first step towards that will be only drinking one cup of coffee a day (I only drink it for the caffeine anyway!)



3 - Lose some weight. Probably the most obvious and overdone, but very much needed in my case right now! I'm starting slimming world again (I followed it loosely before and think it's a super easy, convenient way to keep a diet on track!) and I'm upping my gym attendance.



4 - Move more. Sort of goes hand in hand with number 3, but, starting this week I want to do something active at least once a day… going for a walk, running, swimming, gym etc. I don't mean a full on work out every day, just something to get me up and about.



5 - Listen to more music instead of watching TV. I don't actually watch much TV at all (probably comes from living with the world biggest TV remote thief!) but I am guilty for just having it on in the background, especially when I'm at home on my own with the mini man. Tonight, instead of having the TV on, I put on one of my favourite playlists and danced around with Frank, he laughed, I laughed, it was wonderful.



6 - Try something new. I haven’t decided what yet… maybe yoga, or meditation. I have attempted yoga once before when I was a lot younger - I fell asleep.



7 - Kill less plants. I really need to get better at looking after my plant life! I mean, I'm a whole lot better than I used to be, but far too many of my little green friends still end up in the bin.



8 - Clean out my wardrobe. And I'm going to be RUTHLESS. I'm also going to try and spend less on impulse buys that rarely see the light of day one the tags have come off.



9 - Do one kind thing for someone else a day. I love this one, and I try and stick to it anyway but there is always room for improvement. Buying a homeless person lunch, paying it forward, making someone smile… etc.



10 - Keep a journal.



11 - Blog more. 2 -3 times a week was my original goal and I need to get better at actually sticking to it.
