MEET THE BLOGGER
Because I moved platforms for the blog early on, I lost some of my first posts, so I thought I would do a quick introduction to moi again (not that anyone is probably that interested!)
I thought the most fun way to do that is a "meet the blogger" post - and rather than just waffle on at you, I asked on my Instagram stories for questions from some of my followers, and they came up trumps!!
So here goes -
Where do you live?
I live in Sheffield but spend a lot of time travelling for work. More recently I am based between Manchester and the Midlands.
What do actually you do as a job?
I get asked this A LOT!! I am an enterprise account director for a global IT company (Dell EMC) and I manage the commercial relationship for one of their largest customers. I've been working in the IT industry for the last 12 years, and in the enterprise market for the last 6. I've looked after some of the biggest companies in the UK (some global) and managed their spend and projects sometimes worth millions of pounds. I've travelled a lot and worked incredibly long hours but I also absolutely love what I do so I've never minded too much!
Where is your favourite place to go on holiday?
I'm sure most of you already know this already… but it's ITALY!
Although, this comes with a caveat… for a holiday, I don't think you can beat it for the food, culture, scenery, and the people. However, if I had to pick somewhere to go tomorrow on my own, or with the girls, it would be (without a shadow of a doubt!) New York. I've been about 4/5 times now - on my own, with my hubby, for work etc, and I fall in love with it a little bit more every time I go.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
It sounds cheesy I know, but it's got to be Frank. I never wanted children, it was a deal breaker for me when it came to relationships so I never thought I would be a mum. But all of a sudden a switch flipped, and I decided that maybe one wouldn't be so bad at all. I am so glad I did, when I look at him I could just burst with pride… I can't believe I made something so sweet and gorgeous!
How do you have the energy to do insanity every morning and not fall asleep at work?
I'm still trying to work this out to be honest, although working out every morning does give me more energy than I normally had… even if I do want to get into bed by 8.30 every night! I have REALLY struggled to get back into it since being back off holiday!
What's your biggest regret and what is the one thing you would do a thousand times over?
This sounds lame AF, but I'm one of THOSE people, and I really try not to have any regrets. I like to think everything happens for a reason and the decisions we make help us to become the people that we are. There are things that at the time, I wished I could have done differently (like getting married really young despite every bone in my body telling me it was the wrong thing to do, and winding up divorced not even 2 years later!!!) but then those experiences taught me so much that actually, I wouldn't change them.
If I have one regret, it was that I didn't see my Gramps just before he passed away… He was my absolute hero. I had been in Spain for Christmas, and it was on my "to do list" to see him when I got home before new year. We'd had really bad snow that year so I decided to go and see him on the 30th once it was a bit easier to get to him but he died on the 29th and I am still to this day devastated that I didn't get to see him one last time.
With regards to one thing I would do a thousand times over… hmm… that's a hard one!? Can it involve eating cake without getting fat?!
When you're having a bad day, how do you cheer yourself up?
A glass of wine, a snuggle from Frank or Pig, and cake. Plus a phone call to my mama always helps shift a bad mood, I'm lucky we are super close and she always knows what to say to cheer me up.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Japan. We both really want to visit Japan, and we nearly went for honeymoon but I was worried that I might not actually enjoy it enough to warrant the money/ flight times! We went to Sicily instead, which was ok, but a little disappointing… we should have just risked Japan after all!
What is your favourite shop for clothes?
Depends what for really… for workwear I love Reiss and Karen Millen. And for everything else, you can't beat a bit of Zara can you?! Jeans I pretty much always buy from Topshop though, something about their skinny jeans holds me in in all the right places.
What is your new tattoo, and how many do you have? And piercings?
I've had a small lotus style tattoo on my sternum done in July this year, and a little piercing in my forward helix. I've got 7 other tattoos, which always seems to surprise people for some reason! 3 are quite big, covering half my back/ each ribs, the others are quite small. I used to have LOADS of piercings including my tongue, nose, belly button, all up my ears, even my nipple (!) but now I'm quite boring and just wear one pair of earrings and my new little one! I do plan on having a few more in my ears though, or maybe just pushing studs through the holes that were already there!
What are your pet hates?
This is bad, but I have got so many!!! I can't abide people that are rude, arrogant, bitchy, or think they are better than other people. I also hate it when people are mean, or unkind… and selfish. Also loud chewing (or eating with your mouth open… have you been DRAGGED up?!) bad grammar, being late, and biting nails. I mean, other than that, I'm really quite easy going!!!
What makes you happy?
Right up there, is seeing other people happy! I just love to help people or put a smile on someones face… whether it's buying a surprise bunch of flowers for my mum, making the husband his favourite tea, buying a homeless person some lunch and a hot drink, I just want to brighten up their day. It’s probably one of the reasons I love baking so much.. Because no one can be sad with cake around, right?! I also love spending precious time with my family, friends, and frenchie, and autumn… and eating cake. Preferably all at the same time.
So there you go! A little insight into moi, it was quite fun writing this… I would love to hear from you guys as to what your answers would be!
