PAUSE... RESET.... SMILE
Sometimes I think it is so easy to get caught up in the business of day to day life, that it all becomes a bit of a blur. For me, it's key that I keep reminding myself of things I have got to look forward to that stops me hitting a wall, and (as it's my favourite time of year!) I've got so many exciting things planned over the next few months!
So, what's keeping me smiling…?
I've got to go to Boston for a week with work on Saturday. Now I know from experience that work trips leave very little time for sightseeing and enjoying yourself (!) but I'm getting there a day ahead to beat the jet lag, so I can at least spend a few hours exploring. I've always wanted to do America in the "fall" so it's worked out pretty well, although I feel awful about leaving Frank and the hubby for so long!
See previous post.... my absolute favourite season! I love everything about it; candles, snuggling under my blankets on the sofa, comfort food, fairy lights, the excitement and anticipation for winter and Christmas!
My fave "holiday!" I love getting the house decorated, eating pumpkin soup and watching Hocus Pocus! It's the only occasion I find fancy dress acceptable attire (and even better now I can dress Frank up!) Which reminds me, if anyone has any recommendations for costumes for an 18 month old I'd love to hear from you!
Bonfire night -
Aaahhh… cool crisp evenings drinking hot chocolate or mulled wine round a bonfire… jacket potatoes with chilli…. Bonfire toffee…. Fireworks… amazing! For me, it's got to be a good old fashioned bonfire night, I don't want heavy duty lighting or big commercial food trucks and loud music blaring out. I want a field, a fire, somewhere I can get something simple to eat and drink, and fireworks - perfection!
Weekend away -
The husband and I have booked only our second night ever away from Frank just the two of us! We were going to go to Bath but got distracted by Oxford when watching something on TV so have booked there instead (it helps it's only 20 mins away from Bicester Village as well!) I've not actually ever been in to the centre of Oxford despite doing a lot of work in the area in the past, and it looks beautiful. It looks like they have some decent shopping in the centre, and we are planning on heading to Bicester on the way home.
And to top it all off, we are staying in a converted PRISON!!! Yessss!
Apart from Autumn, my favourite time of the year! Even at the ripe old age of 31, I still find Christmas such a magical time which has been made even better now we have Frank. This year I've got so many lovely things planned, including London for the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, various parties (plus one specifically for the kiddies in our group!) and of course, the main event itself. Oh, and copiuos amounts of cheese, pate, and red wine. Obvs.
So there you have it, just a few of the things I am massively looking forward to over the next few months! What keeps you going when you feel like you're getting lost in it all?!
